Flood influence using GIS and remote sensing based morphometric parameters: A case study in Niger delta region
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study delineates morphometric parameters for determining flood influence on river catchments in the Niger Delta Region using geospatial techniques. Data from United States Geological Survey; Shuttle radar topographic mission was processed ArcGIS 10.6 software. The results of hydrological data analysis, compound factors, and weighted overlay approach demonstrate that early peak flows River cause flooding along riverbanks, as evidenced by stream frequency findings. Ikoli River's consistently provide with its discharge a considerable time. Orashi, Bomadi, Forcados, Nun, basins all have low relief ratio hence little impact floods. However, higher contribute more water shorter amount time produce floods lower locations. Because high runoff short concentration time, Orashi catchment is most flood-prone, followed Forcardos catchments, which indicate "high," Ikoli, Bomadi "medium." It therefore advised Niger, Forcados be prioritized order to reduce research region.

Morphometric Analysis of River Catchments Using Remote Sensing and GIS (A Case Study of the Sukri River, Rajasthan)
Remote Sensing techniques with GIS were used to study the two sub-catchments of the upper catchment of Sukri River, Luni River basin. The measurement and analysis for the two sub-catchments were carried by using GIS for linear, areal and relief aspects. Both sub-catchments have low permeability, high surface run-off, and control of geologic structure. The morphometic analysis and measurements a...
متن کاملTsunami Vulnerability Mapping Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques: A Case Study of Kollam District, Kerala, India
Tsunamis are caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a sea. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides, glacier calvings, meteorite impacts and other disturbances above or below water have the potential to generate a tsunami. The coastal areas of Kollam district, the present study area was seriously affected by the catastr...

متن کاملAssessing Geomorphologic Changes of the Mehran River Delta using Remote Sensing and GIS (Bandar Lenga, Hormozgan Province)
Delta areas are dynamic features with changes occurring at many spatial and temporal scales due to catastrophic events. Change detection and providing a fluvial map of changes are the main requirements for environmental and zonal planners in many studies. Geomorphic changes such as temporal and periodic changes in riverbeds are common events in all delta areas. The Mehran river delta is located...
متن کاملA Decision Support Tool for Flood Management under Uncertainty Using Gis and Remote Sensing Technology
Historical flood events have shown that the level of damage does not solely depend on exposure to flood waters. Vulnerabilities due to various socio-economic factors such as population at risk, public awareness, and presence of early warning systems, etc. should also be taken into account. Federal and state agencies, watershed management coalitions, insurance companies, need reliable decision s...
